Comments: My HVAC had not been running for a few days and my condensor motor fan blades were not turning. I contacted Accutemp. I spoke with Paul before he came over, and he already made me feel comfortable. When he came, and looked at what the problem was it seems that the fan blades had dropped of. He was able to put it back for me and didn't even charge me a dime where other comanies would have charged me an arm and a leg for doing that. THAT'S what I call honesty and service with a smile !!!! Comments: I turned on my a/c unit at the first hint of summer - which could be anytime of the year lately. Nothing but hot air! Just last year another a/c company (they run full page ads) changed out the air handler and tested the system. This company did a sloppy job of replacing the molding to the attic access. They didn't seal the most difficult to reach places under the newly installed insulation as it tied into the opening of the air handler. I noticed after one of their services that my drain trap outside was broken. After a second service call which was a one year check up, on the very next day my circuit breaker at the air handler quit working. Wow what coincidence!???? Anyway the freon had leaked out after only 15 months. Another coincidence? That was the last straw. When hot air blew out of my unit, those coincidences was too much for me to recall those &*%$%. In replacing the lost freon, I found out that nobody will do this without charging to find the leak. Hell perhaps I'll just replace the other half of my system and save on this ridiculous charge. This time I contacted 3 companys for estimates on replacing my outdoor unit-the condenser. The first company wouldn't even come out. He claimed that they couldn't do just one half of the system that I would have to cough up extra for the air handler as well. Yeah right buddy. Strike one. The next guy (well known company here on the north side) wanted $2700. to replace the outdoor unit. I met with him during his house call and inspection. Nice guy and he had a polite disposition but $2700.00? Strike two. Call # three I called ...you guessed it. In a quick response time, Paul called and questioned me about my needs. Paul as you may or may not know is a straight shooter without the usual b.s. that so many sales/tech/managers/reps are so well known for. No b.s. Paul was out here in a flash after giving me a quote over the phone. He showed up the next day along with two installers. Slam, bang it was installed. All along Paul was there overseeing the entire operation. This in itself may seem trivial to some however, let me refer you to another situation with my roof after the last hurricanes. I selected a roofing company that claimed to have a foreman on the job. Long story short, the roof had to be redone at the contractors expense because I would not pay for their sloppy job. Their (foreman) failed to see that these fools did not remove the staples from the removed tiles. Neither did they flatten them. Just rolled new paper over the rip up tiles and felt. Smart. The lack of supervision cost them that $5,000. re-roofing job. So it meant a lot to me that supervision was present. Not to say that the installers were not capable or professional in any respect but there is no substitute for experience as the saying goes. I learned from one of the installers that the air handler that the other full page ad guys installed had two holes in the air handler side wall that was not sealed. It was sucking hot air!!!!! Yeah that explains the miserable performance. By now you get the picture on how and why return service calls happen. Coincidences? I don't really believe it. These coincidences may be opportunities for future service calls that most people would attribute to bad luck or &^% happens-well......I got to wonder if they are actually planned to have the unsuspecting homeowner charged for another service call. Too many "coincidences" for me. Another thing.........Paul and his techs also fixed the broken p-trap that the other a/c company (that runs those full page ads) broke. Paul also told me that without the p-trap and the water in the trap that the air handler will just suck hot air up the drain line and allow more hot air into the air handler lowering its efficiency even more. Another coincidence again? I thank Paul and the two techs(sorry guys I forgot your names) that did a great job above and beyond what I am accustomed to here in Polk County. Did I mention that I was charge about HALF as much as quote #2 ??? Accu-temp saved me a lot of money and they were professional in every respect. Outstanding job guys ! Comments: Paul and his team are accessible night and day for anything that may go wrong. They respond immediately, and they do not rest until they make things right. Sometimes, they don't even charge. For example, Paul just spent two hours unfreezing and unclogging my system because the condensation pump was not working correctly. He unfroze the system and tested until everything was back in order. No charge. These boys do a great job and they are friendly and funny and honest to boot. Work Description: Sunday - June 21, 2009 - Fathers Day - Record breaking heat in Central Florida for several days -- My AC quit yesterday afternoon. I went on-line to search for an AC Contractor that was local, and didn't charge overtime rates -- I found Accu-Temp and called Jeff - the owner. He said he would be out right after church -- and he was. He got my ancient AC running and, with my check book in hand, I was ready to pay anything he asked. He said - "NO CHARGE" !!!, I said "Aw Come on - Let me pay you something" -- Again he refused. I asked him for a quote to replace my old AC - knowing that "Here it comes" - But Jeff gave me several options -- and he left. No Charge -- What is that ??
