Typically in most regions, and in Mesa, Arizona especially, air conditioning contractors have their busiest season in the summer. However, last year’s winter saw a need for Mesa A/C and heating contractors to repair hundreds of units that were damaged in a freak hail storm. As ping pong-sized balls of hail rained down, the power was knocked out, traffic was stopped, and air conditioning units were pummeled. The storm caused $2.7 billion in property damage, and mobilized roofers, auto-mechanics and air conditioning experts who had to attend to damaged homes. Now, a year later, some residents are still filing insurance claims for air conditioners which they didn’t realize were damaged until the summer heat licked in they realized their homes weren’t cooling down.
