Using smart meters, a small device with a digital screen, you can see your electricity and water usage from inside your home, and watch the exact cost of running you’re A/C unit, microwave, television or washing machine. Glendale A/C and heating contractors say homeowners are using their units more efficiently and they are learning ways to save money by seeing the results of their actions – instantly. Glendale was the first city to get federal funding for the technology but officials say the project should spread quickly to other cities.
