Copper thieves have been targeting California churches lately, with the most recent incident in an Oakland church that has now been robbed for the fourth time in two months. The parish is currently without air conditioning and faces thousands of dollars in repairs. Oakland, California air conditioning contractors who were contacted found that the thieves had taken 500 yards of copper wiring as well as two outdoor air conditioning units. In previous thefts the thieves had also stolen cooling units, and because of the frequency with which Oakland A/C and heating contractors have had to visit, they’re probably honorary members of the church by now.
