San Diego and surrounding areas, including Lemon Grove, were recently struck by a massive power outage which left tens of thousands of residents without the ability to cool off in the hot weather. Officials say the outage was the result of a mistake made by an electric company employee, and that they were investigating how it became so widespread. But even though power was restored, Lemon Grove and other California air conditioning contractors warned that people should go easy on their units. In addition, many local schools were still closed out of fear of a secondary power outage. A/C and heating contractors in Lemon Grove told residents that air conditioners could be used but that they should be limited to a minimum and that thermostats should be set at 75 degrees or higher.
