With the hot summer temperatures experienced in New Orleans and the historic devastation caused by hurricane Katrina still affecting people, some air conditioning contractors in New Orleans, Louisiana are giving back to the community. One organization, in partnership with a senior citizens group, is distributing 500 fans to seniors. In addition, another community organization has teamed up with New Orleans A/C and heating contractors to provide 120 low-income residents with window air conditioning units. However, for low income citizens, running an A/C is costly. So in addition to distributing the units, the contractors are also educating people on efficient energy use and ways to lower monthly electric bills.
