A local man was saved recently, in part due to the Portland, Oregon air conditioning contractors who installed the cooling system in the meat factory in which he was working. The man, a 65-year-old forklift operator, accidentally backed into a support beam which collapsed and pinned him. Luckily the temperature in the chilled warehouse was at five degrees below zero. Usually IVs are injected in order to cool down a victim’s body temperature but in this case the cooling system installed by Portland A/C and heating contractors did the job prior to the arrival of emergency services. The cold also posed some problems, however, as the IV that was eventually injected into him began to freeze. In the end firefighters managed to pull the man out and get him to a hospital in time.
