A local book store has been the target of recurring copper theft. Twice in less than two weeks, the store’s cooling unit had its copper pipes cut off and stolen. When the owner called San Antonio, Texas air conditioning contractors and was told the repairs could easily cost $1,000, he was angry and frustrated. While there is currently a six-foot-high fence separating the unit from the street, the owner is considering having San Antonio A/C and heating contractors install a steel cage as well. Police said they currently have no suspects in the case, though there have been similar crimes at other nearby stores.
