As North Carolina temperatures soar, the demand for air conditioning units is growing. So much so that one Charlotte home recently had their A/C unit stolen. According to local air conditioning contractors in Charlotte, North Carolina, the unit was worth about $4,000 and weighed two tons. While police investigate the crime, Charlotte heating and A/C contractors are trying to develop ways to better secure the units. However, if a two-ton unit, attached to a concrete slab can disappear, experts are doubtful anything can be done to prevent a similar, well-planned and involved theft.
