Police are looking for thieves who stripped a local apartment of $10,000 worth of copper. With the rising cost of copper, it’s no wonder the copper piping and wiring were targets. All the copper from within the apartment was taken as well as the copper from two air conditioning units. Norfolk, Virginia air conditioning contractors say this is a common phenomenon and that they are often called in to replace the copper of burglarized cooling units. A/C and heating contractors in Norfolk say residents can purchase cages to protect their A/C units but these can be expensive so most homeowners don’t opt for it.
